John Giannone

John Giannone is a reporter for Rangers telecasts on MSG Network, providing analysis and commentary while conducting player interviews during pre- and post-game shows, as well as intermission reports.

Giannone has been with MSG Networks since 2002 when he was named co-anchor of "MSG SportsDesk." He also hosted “Inside the Rangers” and co-hosted the “What’s Your Angle?” segment of the issue-oriented "Angles" program with MSG Networks veteran Al Trautwig. Prior to joining MSG Networks, Giannone was a field reporter for CNNSI (CNN's 24-hour sports news operation).

New York sports fans were quite familiar with Giannone when he was hired by MSG Networks; he spent nine years at the New York Post (1988-94) and Daily News (1994-97) as a reporter covering the Islanders, Jets, Giants and Mets, and the Mets, Rangers and Yankees, respectively. During that time he covered the Broadway Blueshirts’ 1994 Stanley Cup run and the Yankees’ 1996 World Series championship which, at the time, was their first in 18 years.

Immediately after leaving college, Giannone began his career as a researcher and statistician for CBS Sports. At Fordham University he gleaned his first broadcasting experience with WFUV-FM where he announced the Rams' college basketball games for the campus radio station.

In 2008 Giannone was nominated for his first New York Emmy Award. He was recognized in the On-Camera Talent: Anchor Sports category.

Gianonne now resides in Central Jersey with his wife Jill and their two children. In his spare time he enjoys golfing, playing the piano, reading and skiing.
