Clemson Smith Muñiz

Clemson Smith Muñiz has been the play-by-play voice of "Los Knicks en español" since the first broadcast in 1994, and the leading Spanish-language announcer for MSG on both radio and TV. While at MSG, Smith Muñiz has become one of the top Spanish-language basketball announcers in the country, with the third-longest tenure in the NBA.

"Los Knicks en español" is currently broadcasted on MSG Network's SAP, reaching the second-largest Hispanic market in the country. Smith Muñiz is also the play-by-play voice of "Los Jets en español" and Monday Night Football on Univisión Radio, both which broadcast on WADO 1280. And he handled color commentary for Univisión Radio's broadcasts of Super Bowl 41 and 42. In college football, Smith Muñiz is the play-by-play voice for "Army en español," which broadcasts on WNSW 1430. And in baseball, he is the Spanish-language play-by-play voice for Thursday Night Baseball on MLB Network.

Smith Muñiz has worked in many different capacities, including play-by-play and host of the pre- and post-game shows, for the Yankees, Mets, Jets and Golden Gloves boxing. In 1998, he called "Los Knicks" play-by-play on Telemundo 47, the first time an NBA team broadcast on Hispanic TV, and again during the 2002-2003 season, when selected Knicks games were aired in Spanish on Fox Sports Net.

Nationally, he provided color commentary for ESPN Radio Spanish-language broadcasts of the 1997 and 1998 NBA Eastern Conference Finals, and the 1998 NBA Finals. And at the college level, he was the first to announce St. John's basketball in Spanish, calling play-by-play from 1994 through 1997.

In 2003, Smith Muñiz was a New York A.I.R. Awards Finalist for Best Hispanic On-Air Personality. In 2005, he received El Award from El Diario / La Prensa as one of the 25 leading Hispanic male professionals in the NYC metro area.

Smith Muñiz is a former sportswriter for the Hartford Courant, the Daily News and El País, the largest paper in Spain. He started his Spanish-language broadcast career in 1991 with ESPN International, calling Australian Rules Football before graduating to major events such as the NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals and the 1993 World Series. He's also president of Smith Muñiz Productions, a New York-based company that helps diverse clients such as MSG, HBO (Real Sports and Hard Knocks) and Major League Baseball reach the Hispanic market.

Raised in Puerto Rico, Smith Muñiz is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he's president of the University's Association of Latino Alumni. He is also an avid cyclist and amateur wildlife photographer.

Smith Muñiz lives with his wife Mary Ann in Garrison, New York.
